How Usewright handles your data

Our commitments

Questions: hello@usewright.org

We never collect your work.

Usewright stores only what you type into it: your plan, your reflection, your explain-back and revisit, and the coaching you receive. It never sees, uploads, or analyzes the work you submit.

We do not detect AI.

Usewright is not a detector and does not monitor keystrokes, browsers, or files. It records only what you choose to tell it.

Instructors see patterns, not people.

In a course, the instructor sees counts for the whole class, and only once at least 10 students have responded to a task. In a team, every member sees the same team counts once at least 4 have responded. No one can open another person's entries. This is enforced in the database, not only in the interface.

Your project record and printouts are yours.

Your project record, AI use statement, and printable record are built only from your own entries and shown only to you. You decide whether to share them.

Personal spaces are yours alone.

A personal space has one member: you. No one else can join it or see anything in it.

Every lead makes a safe-reflection commitment.

To create a space, the lead must agree that entries are for learning and will not be used as evidence in academic integrity cases. Honest reflection is the point, so this protects it.

In research supervision, you choose what to share.

Your supervisor sees an entry only if you share it, and you can stop sharing at any time. Shared entries show the name you saved in Usewright. Your supervisor can record a short confirmation after discussing the entry with you, and you can see it.

Accommodations stay private.

If you mark AI use as part of an approved accommodation, no one else sees that mark, it is not counted in group patterns, and the coach treats the use as appropriate.

What the AI coach sees.

When AI coaching is on, the task's learning goal, protected skill, and AI policy, your plan, your reflection, and your explain-back are sent to Anthropic's Claude to write your feedback. Your name and email are not sent. If AI coaching is off or unavailable, a built-in rule-based coach responds instead.

Your record is yours.

Only you can see your AI judgment record. You decide whether to share its summary with anyone. You can delete your account yourself from the Account page. Deleting an account removes every entry tied to it.

Confidential material stays private.

If you mark that a task involves confidential material, or that some went into an AI tool, that answer is never shown to anyone, including a supervisor you share the entry with.

Early version.

This is a test version. Please do not enter personal details beyond your name and email, and do not use it for real course records until your institution has approved it.
